Dane K. Curtsinger, DVM, Diplomate ABVP
Dr. Curtsinger is originally from Kentucky but has lived in Pineville, North Carolina
since 1993. He received a B.S. Degree from Eastern Kentucky University in 1987
and graduated Cum Laude from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine
in 1991. While in veterinary college, he was a member of the Phi Zeta Veterinary
Honorary Society, a small animal clinical student resident and a volunteer
firemen/EMT. During his senior year, he was the recipient of the Small Animal
Clinical Proficiency Award, the Merck Veterinary Academic Award and the
Community Involvement Award.
Immediately after graduation, Dr. Curtsinger entered a small animal
medicine/surgery internship program in Ohio. He completed the internship and
moved to Pineville, North Carolina in 1993 and has worked at several larger
hospitals in south Charlotte including Carolina Veterinary Specialists. In 1998, he
became board certified by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in
Canine and Feline Practice. In 2004, there were only 250 board certified
Canine/Feline Dilpomates in the United States. He enjoyed the challenging
pathway to become board certified and is proud that the ABVP is one of the few
specialty organizations that require its Diplomates to recertify every ten years.
The recertification requires that Diplomates stay current with the latest
developments in medicine and surgery. He has served on various committees in
the ABVP and is currently the Chairman for the Canine/Feline Exam Committee.
Dr. Curtsinger is married with three sons, a golden retriever and two cats. He
enjoys fishing, camping and weekend construction projects. He has been a
member of the Pineville Volunteer Fire and Rescue since 1993 and has served in
various positions including Treasurer, Captain and member of the Swift Water
Rescue Team. He is also active in the Pineville Community Athletic Association
and a member of the Stough Memorial Baptist Church.
Dr. Curtsinger's goal has been to own a high quality hospital that provides the
latest, most progressive veterinary care and do so in a small-town, personal
atmosphere. Dr. Curtsinger chose the location of the hospital and the design in
order to optimize convenience and patient care, yet minimize high overhead in
order to provide high quality, progressive veterinary care at a more affordable
value. His vision became reality in April 2004 when he opened Curtsinger Animal
Hospital.
Board certified Diplomates have
pursued additional training in
many instances, have made a
serious commitment to continuing
education and have demonstrated
by the certification process that
they are capable of providing a
level of clinical practice that is
clearly superior to the norm of the
profession.
Dr. Curtsinger's goal has been to
